What we do
Everything that we do is directed towards making a difference in the lives of children and young people.
We build "world class" facilities where young people can come and play, learn and develop.
We provide a range of programmes and activities designed to help young people make positive choices and achieve their potential.
We build capacity in local communities and people.
We impact the lives of over 12,000 children and young people per month
President F W De Klerk, former President of South Africa said "I am delighted to support Hope Through Action as they develop sports and community based projects in South Africa. Both Hope Through Action and I recognise the need to mobilise resources to address social, health, educational and developmental problems. I wish them success as they bring resources from communities and organisations around the world to help the young people of our nation develop their potential“
Premier Helen Zille, Premier of Western Cape said “I am delighted that Hope Through Action is continuing to invest in the lives of our young people. I have been aware of their projects since 2009 and am impressed by their vision and work of creating opportunities through sport to help young people nurture their talents, develop crucial life skills and improve their lives. I look forward to visiting Franschhoek and seeing this new centre for myself which can make a great impact in benefitting the community”.
Sport & other activities
The sports we currently offer are:
Futsal (our centres have a FIFA standard futsal pitch)
Football – we cater for all ages from 5 years to 25
Netball (a purpose built all-weather netball court has recently been opened)
Cricket – both quick and full
Kick Boxing – a favourite amongst the girls, encouraging self confidence & protection
Rugby – at present tag rugby – specifically to bring communities together
Karate & self defence
All sports codes are inclusive and we actively encourage both boys and girls to participate in every sport.
Integral with all sport coaching is life skill development and personal growth. We use the model below.
We also offer creative programmes which include regular dance, singing and theatre sessions.
We have introduced literacy and reading programmes using books which address the social and cultural issues that the young people face as they grow up. The centres are also used informally by study groups prior to exams.
